• Only 30% of children who start first grade go past six grades.

• Honduras has the highest rate of adolescent pregnancy in Central America.

• The World Bank names education as one of the strongest instruments for reducing poverty and improving health, gender equality, peace, and stability. 

• When we started Sharefish, students in El Carrizo entering first grade were significantly delayed in their educational development. They did not know their ABCs, colors, or even how to hold a pencil. These children were behind before they even started. 

• In 2016, we opened Aprende Conmigo preschool to give the children in El Carrizo a chance to break the cycle of poverty through education.   

•  Soon, the children were completing preschool knowing the alphabet, numbers, shapes, and colors, and most could write their name! 

• We recently completed a comprehensive preschool update featuring a colorful, expansive new space.  

• Preschoolers are now primed for a successful education journey through our elementary sponsorship program, our middle school and eventually trade school or university.
