Why Honduras?

+ In 1998, Hurricane Mitch ravaged Honduras, leaving an already impoverished company in worse shape, from which most have still not recovered. Today, Honduras is one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere.

+ The World Health Organization calculates that education has the highest return on investment in third world countries. In Honduras:

  • 13.5%of children have no access to school
  • only 43% of children complete six grades
  • Only 30% of children who start first grade go past six grades

+ These families have the same dreams as we do – to see their kids grow and prosper. But in rural Honduras, there are no social programs, scholarships or any other means of help for people to improve their lives.

+ In the ever-increasing global community, the welfare of people in need is an global concern.

+ People like us are their only hope to break the cycle of poverty and have the future they dream of.
